Acts of Abrasion

This is poetry that leaks out of intense feelings of love and loss, the tenderness of relationships, the crossing of borders. There is delight in natural events: birdsong at morning, the burgeoning of sexual love, a powerful evocation of air and breath as the heart of sustenance. Sappho has fed Lyn Hatherly's muse but the song is individual and clear-eyed.
